In February 2016 Stair Sainty presented an exhibition entitled Under the Stars by the Cuban-born Spanish artist Federico Armando Beltrán-Masses (1885 – 1949).
While he enjoyed an international reputation in the twenties and thirties – an entire pavilion was devoted to his work at the X11 Venice Biennale in 1920 and he had many internationally acclaimed shows in Paris, New York and London – his work was not widely known outside his existing pool of collectors.
The PR objectives for this exhibition were two-fold. Firstly, to promote the artist and show, targeting media that would reach potential buyers and also encourage a critical reappraisal of Beltrán-Masses’ oeuvre. Secondly, to use the exhibition to raise awareness of Stair Sainty gallery and its core business values.
Multiple strategies were employed to achieve these ends, resulting in a welter of press coverage in the UK and abroad.
This work was further complimented by Albany supplying PR support for Stair Sainty at the Frieze Masters art fair and Tefaf, Maastricht, as well as promoting an exhibition of Degas’ The Little Dancer, which was attended by Darcey Bussell CBE, the former Principal dancer at The Royal Ballet.
