The Culture Trust Luton is delighted to announce that since opening on 6 December, Stockwood: Illuminated, has attracted more than 3,000 visitors — and with 4,200 tickets sold already, it is expected that number will double by the end of its run on 29 December 2019.
Created by the internationally acclaimed artists Ulf Pederson and Mark Anderson, Stockwood: Illuminated invites visitors to experience their creations of light and sound against the lush, green backdrop of Stockwood Discovery Centre’s magnificent historic gardens.
Staged every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the walk-through lasts 30 minutes, after which visitors are invited to stay on-site to enjoy a range of festive activities. On Fridays and Saturdays, musical entertainment is provided by Mellowtone, a jazz duo consisting of guitar/vocals and sax.
Says Marie Kirbyshaw, The Culture Trust Luton’s Chief Executive: ‘We’re not surprised that Stockwood: Illuminated has proved such a great a hit with the public. Ulf Pederson and Mark Anderson have created something truly astonishing —an experience that is not only artwork but also a spectacle that can be enjoyed by everyone.’
This has been another successful year for Stockwood Discovery Centre: on current projections, it will attract more than 200,000 visitors in 2019/20, up by 6 percent on the previous year.
Stockwood: Illuminated runs until Sunday 29 December, taking place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only. Each night will have the following 30 minute tour time slots available: Fridays & Saturdays: 5.45pm, 6.15pm, 6:45pm, 7.15pm & 7:45pm; Sundays: 5.45pm, 6.15pm, 6:45pm & 7.15pm.
